Adult Swim Yule Log 2: Branching Out Lights Up the Holiday Horror Scene
Adult Swim has reignited its quirky holiday horror series with Adult Swim Yule Log 2: Branching Out. The sequel, helmed by writer/director Casper Kelly (Too Many Cooks), aired tonight, delivering another bizarre blend of festive cheer and surreal horror.
A Sequel That Goes Global
The original Adult Swim Yule Log (2022) introduced viewers to Zoe (Andrea Laing) and Alex (Justin Miles) as they faced an uncanny, murderous log. In the sequel, Zoe flees to another country to escape the horrors of the first film. However, the bloodthirsty log proves it’s not bound by borders, following her in a twisted, globe-trotting terror spree.
Both films are now streaming on Max, providing fans with a perfect opportunity to dive into what is affectionately dubbed the Adult Swim Cinematic Yuliverse.
A Gift No One Asked For, Again
Adult Swim’s President Michael Ouweleen humorously celebrated the sequel’s release:
“This holiday, we’re giving the gift that no one thought to ask for, again. And we lost the receipt, so you can’t trade it in. You’re welcome and happy holidays from Adult Swim to you.”
Director’s Vision: The Yuliverse Expands
Casper Kelly has ambitious plans for the franchise, envisioning a sprawling saga of interconnected films:
“With luck, and your viewership, I will get to fulfill my vision of 31 interconnected Yule Log films, including Adult Swim Yule Log: Next of Kindling and Adult Swim Yule Log: Revenge of the Three French Hen Ninjas. This franchise will put Adult Swim squarely in the forefront of the movie franchise space where it belongs.”
Holiday Horrors with a Unique Twist
The Adult Swim Yule Log series offers an irreverent and genre-defying take on holiday programming. Whether you’re here for the horror, the humor, or just the absurdity of it all, Branching Out ensures your holiday season will be anything but traditional.
So, light the fire, grab some eggnog, and let the murderous log roll its way into your festivities.
